EMOTRON VFX variable frequency drive (VFD)

The Emotron VFX offers a variety of customizable options to tailor its functionality to meet your specific needs. You can combine up to four different options to fully optimize the drive for your application.

• Crane Control
  A specialized Crane I/O Expansion Board provides efficient control for hoist and travel drives, with a built-in safety system that activates the mechanical brakes if dangerous loads are detected. It also features a load-dependent field weakening function for hoist applications, improving performance and safety.
• Shorter Braking Time
  For applications that require rapid or continuous braking, a brake chopper is available as a factory-installed option. Paired with brake resistors, it is dimensioned to meet the specific braking demands of your system, ensuring efficient operation.
• Communication
  Communication options include fieldbus protocols such as Profibus, DeviceNet, and CANopen, as well as Industrial Ethernet via Modbus/TCP, EtherCAT, and Profinet. You can also utilize RS232 or RS485 for serial communication with Modbus RTU.
• Motor Protection
  Connect PTC and PT100 sensors to monitor and protect motor temperature, providing process feedback without the need for an external transmitter.
• Encoder
  For more accurate speed control or increased safety in crane applications, an HTL or TTL pulse encoder can be connected to ensure precise deviation control and improve overall system reliability.
• Safe Stop
  This option offers protection from unexpected starts during mechanical maintenance, meeting the safety standards of IEC 62061 SIL2 and ISO 13849. No additional contactor is required for safe stop functionality.
• Liquid Cooling
  Units with currents starting from 90 A are available with liquid cooling. This option helps lower operating and maintenance costs while allowing the cabinet to achieve a protection class higher than IP54.
• EMC Protection
  For environments requiring strict electromagnetic compatibility, a C2 EMC filter (first environment category) is available as a factory-mounted option.
• Reduced Harmonic Distortion
  A 12-pulse rectifier provides a cost-effective solution for reducing harmonic current distortions, minimizing power losses in equipment like transformers and conductors, and eliminating the need for over-sizing components.
• IP21 Top Cover
  For wall-mounted units in electrical rooms, an IP21 top cover is available for IP20 units (11-132 kW) to provide drip protection and enhance durability.
