CG Drives & Automation is excited to introduce the new Emotron TSA soft starters, available in a range from 5.5 to 1000 kW (16-960 A, 200-690 V). This lineup features new frame sizes TSA 5 and TSA 6 for handling higher power demands (470-960 A). Designed with operational security and energy efficiency in mind, these soft starters come equipped with numerous built-in functions for enhanced safety and reliability, including thermal motor protection, thermistor inputs, and bypass contactors as standard features.

The Emotron TSA soft starters elevate motor control with features like soft torque starting, intelligent load monitoring, and smart stopping capabilities—all within a robust, compact design. These soft starters are ideal for a variety of applications, including pumps, fans, compressors, blowers, crushers, conveyors, mills, mixers, and saws.
Controlling motor torque effectively is best achieved by managing the current across all three phases. Three-phase control provides symmetrical and balanced currents without the added energy losses, noise, and vibrations typically associated with two-phase soft starters.
The Emotron TSA soft starters utilize three-phase control in conjunction with advanced algorithms for precise torque management. Unlike conventional soft starters that rely on a predefined voltage ramp for starting, the Emotron TSA continuously calculates and adjusts the actual motor torque based on your specific application needs. This means ultra-smooth starts with consistent acceleration, reducing starting current by up to 30%. As a result, you can use smaller fuses and less expensive cables, leading to lower installation and energy costs. A built-in load monitor safeguards your machinery and process against costly downtime and equipment failures. It reacts instantly if a crusher jams, a pump runs dry, a compressor idles, or a fan operates inefficiently due to a blocked filter. This is achieved by continuously monitoring the motor torque. Any deviation from your set load levels triggers a warning or initiates a quick yet smooth stop.
You can remotely display the actual load via analog or fieldbus communication outputs. The monitor also indicates when a process is ready, such as when the desired viscosity level is achieved in a mixing operation. Motor Protection You Can Trust
Every Emotron TSA soft starter includes a standard motor PTC thermistor input for thermal protection. The isolated thermistor inputs comply with DIN 44081/44082 standards. Additionally, the soft starter can connect up to six PT100 temperature sensors. Its software also features an easy-to-use I²t motor thermal protection function for added safety.
Smart Stops—Smooth or Quick
The Emotron TSA provides efficient solutions for both smooth and rapid stops. A linear stop for pumps prevents water hammer without requiring motor-controlled valves. The built-in braking functionality allows for quick, safe stops for mills and saws without the need for mechanical brakes.
Slow Speed and Jog Operations
In addition to ramping speeds from zero to full rated motor speed, the Emotron TSA soft starters enable low-speed operation in both forward and reverse without additional hardware. This capability is perfect for aligning loads or running motors at low speeds for testing or servicing. Applications benefiting from this feature include loading/unloading centrifuges or mixers and positioning feeding conveyors.
